Description of Telematics Update:
Telematics Update is the leading business information provider for the wireless automotive, mobile and web community. We aim to be the information ‘storehouse’ on all things telematics. Our purpose is to create and sustain a community comprising of senior-level telematics executives by providing them with relevant, informative and “not to be found elsewhere” business information products related to telematics.
We manage a news website and aim to provide subscribers with a selection of relevant news-items on a daily basis. We also publish a weekly newsletter and circulate it amongst our subscribers. Our main business is still geared towards researching and marketing B2B conferences, and we put together a portfolio of relevant telematics-oriented conferences & exhibitions around the world. We also host a webcast service and work with partners to provide consultancy and research services.
What is “telematics”?
Over the past decade the term ‘Telematics’ has come to mean real-time wireless transmission of data across platforms. Our main focus was the automotive industry, but overtime we have started focusing on the mobile/handheld and the asset management industry as well. Some of the main niches we concentrate on are consumer electronics, navigation & location technologies, asset monitoring and fleet management. We are also researching the electric/hybrid car technology space as this will be the next key chapter in automotive history.
Some key achivements
Our North-American flagship show grew by approx. 87% last year. But, the icing on the cake was our European flagship show, which grew by a staggering 318% last year. Despite the current business climate, our flagship shows continue to perform very well and will draw in up to 1,000 prominent industry players in 2009. We’ve been continually increasing our newsletter subscription numbers. In 2009 we are expanding into the Japanese market by holding a Telematics conference in Tokyo. We are currently launching a newsletter on electric/hybrid car technology.
